Pulla Bread

This recipe is a family favorite anytime but especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. It says Holiday and Family to us.

4 tsp yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 cups milk, scalded and cooled
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cardamon
4 eggs beaten
8-9 cups flour
1/2 cup melted butter
Warm water in your mixer, sprinkle yeast on top and let bubble
Add the rest of the ingredients
Knead bread and then cover to rise 15 min
Knead until smooth and satiny, rise again 30 min
Divide and braid bread (3 loaves)
Rise 20 min
Glaze loaves and bake 375 for 25-30 min
Glaze
1 egg beaten, crushed sugar and sliced almonds
Brush the loaves with the egg and then sprinkle with sugar and almonds
