Carmel Krispies

I was given this recipe a while ago, I think from Sharon. I haven't ever tried and decided to do it today! They are really good, but makes a slightly lower fat snack a lot fattier! But I will say they are super good! Next time I think I will half the carmel recipe and just put a little on top!
Carmel Krispies

Make Rice Krispy treats as normal

Carmel

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk (1/2 can or make your own from the powdered milk recipe)

Cook, stirring constantly over medium heat, boil for 3 minutes and pour over the top of the Krispies. ENJOY!!

Blender Bean Dip

I made this dip last night for a Relief Society Activity. It turned out really good and is quite healthy for you! I didn't add the cilantro (because my husband can't stand it) and I didn't have cumin. So it was really simple, healthy and a great snack!
Blender Bean Dip
(from winhealth partners health link)
  1. 15.5 oz can of beans (red kidney, navy or black beans)--I used black beans
  2. 1 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes, with chilies and spices added
  3. 1 tbsp cumin
  4. 1 tbsp chili powder
  5. 1/2 cup fresh cilantro

Drain and rinse beans and put into blender. Drain tomatoes and add to blender. Add cumin, chili powder, and cilantro (I didn't have cumin and Todd hates cilantro so I didn't add these). Blend to desired consistancy. Refrigerate until ready to serve. I topped the dip with some grated cheese too!

Serve with corn chips, tortillas, etc. Makes about 2 cups of dip.

Holiday Caramel Chex Mix

I tried this and loved it!! It is sweet, but super yummy and easy!
I found this in Home Cooking the Costco Way that my sister sent me. She got this cookbook from her Costco, they gave them away for free!!

Holiday Caramel Chex Mix
(General Mills)
  • 4 cups popped popcorn
  • 2 cups each of Corn Chex and Rice Chex
  • 1 cup mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries

Preheat oven to 250 degrees

Remove and discard any unpopped kernels from the popped popcorn

In an ungreased roasting pan, mix popcorn, cereal and nuts; set aside

In a saucepan, heat butter, brown sugar and corn syrup to boiling over medium heat, stirring frequently. Pour over the cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.

Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to break up.

In another saucepan, heat baking chips over low heat, stirring frequently, until melted and smooth. Add 3 cups of the cooled cereal mixture to the melted chips; toss gently until evenly coated. Spread on waxed paper or foil. Cool for about 30 minutes, or until set.

In a serving bowl, mix both cereal mixtures and cranberries (I didn't add these the first time around, but did the second. I like them with the mix, my kids are picking around them!). Store in an airtight container. Makes 18 1/2 cup servings!

Mini Smores

I found this on www.myrecipegarden.blogspot.com and think it is such a fun idea to do with kids!
I am going to have to try it, because I very "weak" to refuse a smore and these look too good!
Mini Smores

Simply sandwich one mini marshmallow and one chocolate chip (pressed gently into the marshmallow) inbetween 2 Golden Grahams Cereal pieces. Microwave for approximately 20 seconds (all depends on your microwave). You may have to replace a top or two, due to the marshmallows expanding in the heat. Enjoy.

Wicked Good Marshmallow Popcorn

Warning: this stuff is soooo yummy; it's almost too good. The best advice I can give you is to make sure that you have plenty of people to share it with. Otherwise, you'll end up eating it all by yourself, which can't be a good thing. So, here goes:

Marshmallow Popcorn
1 c. margarine or butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. Karo

Melt the above ingredients, remove from heat when it starts to bubble. Add 1 bag of mini marshmallows and mix it until the marshmallows are almost melted. Pour over 3 bags of microwave popcorn or 2 bowls of popcorn (make sure to remove the kernals). Enjoy, but please, try to show a little restraint!!

Caramel Apple Dip

I took this picture off of Michelles blog along with her recipe! I made the caramel sauce tonight and it was a hit!! Thanks Michelle!
______________________________________
Put 1 can sweetened condensed milk in small crock pot. Add 10-20 caramels, how ever many you have left after you open the bag and decide to have 'just one'. (Milkmaid not Kraft, yes try them both you'll see the difference, I tell you I love caramels:). Turn on low and stir often. Soon it will turn a rich caramely color and turn soooo smooth and yummy (a couple of hours 3-4). Cut up lots of green apples and serve (in individual cups). My favorite! Try it you'll love it!
I don't have a small crock pot so I used the double boiler method and it worked great too!
